The train leaves from Brisbane every Tuesday and Saturday and travels along the eastern coastline to Rockhampton and then inland to Longreach arriving the following day. The train also offers motorail so put your car on the train and only drive one way.

Longreach is about 1200 kilometres from Brisbane and just 700 kilometres west of Rockhampton. All major highways are fully sealed, making driving a pleasure. From Brisbane take the Warrego Highway through Toowoomba and Roma, from Rockhampton take the Capricorn Highway through Emerald and from Townsville take the Flinders highway to Hughenden before turning onto the Kennedy Development road to Winton. From NSW or Victoria take the Kidman Way through Western NSW before joining the Matilda Highway to Western Queensland.
Qantas link has daily return flights between Brisbane and Longreach, the journey takes approximately 2 hours and 25 minutes and allows you a spectacular view over the Australian outback.
